Website woes
I got a nasty surprise the other night. Somebody emailed with a question about a Mary Hoyer doll. I Googled "Mary Hoyer doll" to find the URL for the company's website to see if there was a history there. One of the top links that came up was to the Hoyer page on my own VintageDollCollector site. With Google listing it as "unsafe" and "suspicious"! Apparently my site has been hijacked by malware AGAIN. I frantically contacted support at the hosting company. Their response was to refer me to some Wikipedia pages about how sites can be compromised, none of which I understood, not being a professional programmer, or even a very good amateur one. They said they could do a backup of the site. Still waiting for that. They also recommended changing passwords frequently and updating the software on the site. (Is there software on my site?) My thought is, if their servers are compromised, how is this MY fault??? How lax is their security if this keeps happening? Maybe time to switch hosting companies. Anyhow, if you are trying to find some info from the site, just leave a comment here and I'll try to help. Thanks for your patience.
